Rivet & Rail is a small-business resource built around one idea: the decisions that make or break a small business are rarely dramatic. They are the everyday operational and financial calls -- whether to lease or buy equipment, how you set payment terms, what you put in an employee handbook -- that compound over time into either a durable business or a fragile one.

This site exists to make those decisions easier. Each article works through a real operating question in plain language, without the jargon or the sales pitch, so that owner-operators can walk away with something they can actually use the same day.

Nicolas C. Oehler is the founder of Rivet & Rail, where he writes about the operational and financial decisions that make or break small businesses. Drawing on a background in business, he focuses on turning practical topics -- cash flow, vendor relationships, and day-to-day operations -- into guidance that owner-operators can actually use. He is based in Ohio.
